Further results on linear nonquadratic optimal control

چکیده
This note continues an investigation by the authors of minimizing the transient response of a linear system as measured by nonquadratic penalty functions, in particular, penalty functions which have linear growth. First, this note shows that the optimal state feedback which minimizes the transient response in the case of no exogenous inputs also minimizes the induced norm in case exogenous inputs are present. Second, it considers the case of constrained systems and derives bounds which establish the stability and performance of receding horizon control laws. Finally, this note illustrates the results for scheduling of reliable manufacturing systems.

Linear Nonquadratic Optimal Control - Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on
We consider the optimization of nonquadratic measures of the transient response. We present a computational implementation of dynamic programming recursions to solve finite-horizon problems. In the limit, the finite-horizon performance converges to the infinite-horizon performance. We provide conditions based on finite-horizon computations which only assure that a receding horizon implementatio...
متن کاملAnalysis and Synthesis for Linear Set-Valued Dynamically Varying Systems'
Analysis and synthesis for linear systems with parameters that vary according to a set-valued map are investigated. It is shown that the optimal controllers are continuous and homogeneous, but not additive. A computational method based on approximating the nonquadratic cost by a piece-wise quadratic function is developed. Such an approximation determines stability nonconservatively and preserve...
متن کاملNonquadratic stabilization of continuous-time systems in the Takagi-Sugeno form
This paper presents a relaxed scheme for controller synthesis of continuous-time systems in the Takagi-Sugeno form, based on non-quadratic Lyapunov functions and a non-PDC control law. The relaxations here provided allow state and input dependence of the membership functions’ derivatives, as well as independence on initial conditions when input constraints are needed. Moreover, the controller s...
متن کاملImprovement on Nonquadratic Stabilization of Discrete-Time Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Systems: Multiple-Parameterization Approach
This paper presents the relaxed nonquadratic stabilization conditions of discrete-time Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems. To do this, we propose a new fuzzy controller and Lyapunov function by generalizing the nonparallel distributed compensation (non-PDC) control law and nonquadratic Lyapunov function, respectively. By exploiting Pólya’s theorem and algebraic properties of a homogeneous polyno...
متن کاملGlobal optimal feedback control for general nonlinear systems with nonquadratic performance criteria
Optimal control of general nonlinear nona3ne controlled systems with nonquadratic performance criteria (that permit stateand control-dependent time-varying weighting parameters), is solved classically using a sequence of linearquadratic and time-varying problems. The proposed method introduces an “approximating sequence of Riccati equations” (ASRE) to explicitly construct nonlinear time-varying...
